A camera with the ability to capture at least 3MP Avoid models that require the use of an LCD screen to compose pictures; optical viewfinders are best Built-in flashes that cover 7-10 feet are best for indoor pictures Glass lens with an optical zoom A camera with Macro function is best to capture flowers, jewelry, coins - a requirement for on-line auction images Lens attachment capability for wide angle and close-up options Video capability for recording action clips Analog video output terminal (NTSC) that allows the connection to a TV Check the camera specifications to find the number of pixels that are actually captured by the image sensor (without interpolation). Sometimes this number is overstated by the manufacturer.
